Work with tasks

Create tasks on a matter or for the firm, work their checklists, mention colleagues in comments, and see your list and the team's.

Create a task

  1. Open Tasks and choose New task, or add one from a matter's Tasks tab.
  2. Give it a title, the person it is for, a due day and a priority. Leave the matter empty for the firm's own work.
  3. Optionally name the deadline it serves, and the tasks it waits on.

Work it

  • Move it from to do to in progress to done. Done records who and when.
  • Tick its checklist lines, up to a hundred, in the order you arrange them.
  • Link the documents it needs, from the same matter.
  • Comment, and mention a colleague with @ to tell them. You cannot mention someone who may not see the task.

Waiting on other work

A task waiting on open work shows as blocked. It is a signal, not a lock: you can still work on it. The system refuses a task waiting on itself or on a loop.

Cancel and reopen

Cancelling needs a reason. Reopening clears the completion and is recorded.

Views

My tasks, Team, All and Workload show the same tasks as a list or a board, and the open tasks per person. A walled matter's tasks never appear to someone outside the wall. Each morning you receive a list of what is due and overdue, if the firm has it switched on.
