Linked records

Every record names the others it hangs from as links, and its page lists what names it, so nothing is reached only by a filter or a label.

Wherever a record names another (a bill's matter, a hearing's court, a receipt's bank account, a deadline's rule, the person who did something), the name is a link to that record's own page. A name you may not open, because of your permissions or an ethical wall, stays as plain text in the same place, so a screen never offers a page that would then refuse you.

A record's page lists what names it

The other direction is on the record itself. An office lists its matters, people, clients, time, bills and receipts in its own tabs, and its Linked records tab holds the rest: the enquiries taken in there, its departments, disbursements, pre-bills, credit notes, client money requests, expense claims, petty cash floats and journals. A court lists its cases, hearings and judges, and under Linked records the deadlines counted in it and the enquiries that name it. A person's page does the same for the matters they answer for, the deadlines and tasks they hold, the cases they lead and the enquiries they advise on or referred.

Linked records shows one list at a time. Choose the list beside the search; each row opens its record. Search and order by day or by name as the list's own register does.

Counts on the overview

A record's overview counts what names it, list by list. Each count opens its list: in the page's own tab where it has one, otherwise under Linked records.

You see what you may read

Each list is the firm's own register of that kind, narrowed to the record, read as you. A list you may not read is not offered and not counted, and a matter behind an ethical wall stays out of every list it would be in.
