Task guide

Find anything with search

One search box across matters, parties, documents and their text, notes, filed mail and originals, showing only what you may see.

Search the whole firm

Press Search at the top of any screen, or Ctrl K, and type a name, a number or a phrase. The same box also takes you to any page by its name. Records come back grouped by kind:

  • Matters by number, name and tag.
  • Parties by name, phone, email, identity number and tag.
  • Documents by title, tag and the words inside them, including scanned pages the system has read.
  • Notes and mail by their words.
  • Originals by their description.

An identifier typed exactly, such as a matter number, comes first; then names and titles, then tags, then words found in the text. Matching words are highlighted in each result.

Narrow the results

For a fuller search with filters, open Documents, then Search. Filter by kind of record, matter, kind of document, day, who uploaded it and tag. To search one matter only, use the Search tab on the matter itself.

What you will not find

Search judges every result by the same rules as the record itself. A matter behind an ethical wall you are outside of does not appear at all, a partners only document does not appear to someone who may not open it, and the count of results is the count after those rules.
