Export a register to CSV

Take every row a register's filters reach as one CSV file, not only the page on screen, read exactly as you may read it.

Export what the filters reach

Every register (matters, parties, time, bills, deadlines, documents, the audit trail and the rest) has Export beside its filters. On a phone it sits with the register's other actions, under the dots beside the heading where there are several.

  1. Search, filter and sort the register as you want it.
  2. Choose Export. The system says how many rows the filters reach; every one of them goes into the file, not only the page on screen.
  3. Confirm. Up to 1,000 rows the file downloads at once.

A larger set is made in the background. You are told when it is ready, and it waits on your profile under Exports for a day. One file carries at most 100,000 rows; narrow the filters for the rest.

What the file holds

The file opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. Each column is a field the register keeps, in plain words: a client or a matter reads as its name and number, money as an amount with its currency beside it, a list as its names joined, and dates as dates. Identifiers the system uses internally are left out.

Each row is read exactly as you may read it on screen. A matter you are walled from, or a record outside your reach, is not in the file.

Downloading

A file downloads once. Your profile's Exports tab lists everything you exported with what it holds; a file already taken, or older than a day, is gone, and Ask again makes it anew with the same filters.

Who may export

Exporting needs the register.export permission, which every member of staff holds by default. A firm that does not want bulk copies taken from a role removes it from that role under Settings, Roles; the people in it still read the registers as before.
