Email from a matter

Read conversations and send through your own mailbox with templates, attachments and the firm's signature.

Read a conversation

Open the matter's Emails tab. Each row is one conversation, showing its subject, participants, message count and last date. Search its subject, sender or words in the messages. Use filters for direction, source, dates and attachments.

Open a conversation to read messages oldest first. Expand Quoted text when you need the earlier words. Attachments link to their document records. An inline image loads only when you choose Show image and can read the document.

Start, reply or forward

Choose New email in the Emails tab, or Reply, Reply all or Forward from a message's action menu. Choose your Google or Microsoft mailbox, then Start draft. Replies keep the original conversation. Check every recipient, especially before replying to everyone or forwarding.

Your matter contacts are suggested in To. Search for another contact or type a complete address. Cc and Bcc work the same way. You can send only on matters you may reach, and ethical walls still apply.

A connection with older read-only consent can still browse and file mail. The composer shows Reconnect when sending needs additional consent. Reconnect your mailbox before sending.

Write and attach

Choose an applicable template to fill the subject and message from the matter. Applying it replaces your current subject and body after confirmation. The editor supports paragraphs, emphasis, lists, links and tables.

Choose attachments from the matter's readable, scanned documents. A document awaiting release approval, or covered by a legal hold that forbids release, cannot be sent. Choose Choose files on the compose page to upload a new attachment through the normal scan gate, then select it after scanning finishes. Select an image document as an attachment to insert it into the body.

Signatures and saved drafts

Your personal signature appears above the firm footer. Change your own signature in Me, Profile, Signature. The firm administrator keeps the firm footer in Settings, Firm, Email signature. You cannot remove that block from an outgoing message. The firm's lawyer verifies its Ghanaian regulatory wording.

The draft saves every few seconds. Check Saved before leaving. Open Correspondence > Email drafts to return to your private saved messages. If someone changes the same draft in another window, LFMS asks you to reload instead of overwriting their version. Discarding needs a reason and the word DISCARD.

Send and recover

Choose Send, review To, Cc and Bcc, then type SEND. LFMS sends once through your own mailbox and files the outbound copy on this matter. The copy retains the template version, signatures and attachments it used.

If sending fails, nothing is filed and your draft stays available. Fix the named problem before trying again. If delivery is uncertain, the draft stays protected: check your sent mailbox and use Check sent mailbox. Do not create another copy while delivery is uncertain.

When someone else files or sends mail on your matter, the responsible lawyer receives a notice linking to its conversation. The supervising partner also receives it when the firm enables that setting. Your notification preferences can collect email notices into a daily digest.
