Dealing with each result of a conflict check

Read why each party matched, give every result a disposition, and record a decision only when the file is ready.

Open a check from Conflicts, All checks, or To decide. To decide lists the oldest waiting checks first. Search by purpose or a name asked about, or narrow by trigger and run date.

Deal with the results

Each row shows the matched party, score, reasons and disposition. Open View details to read the full reasons, connecting matters, roles and notes. A former name can explain a match that the party's present name does not. Group-company reasons show the path followed.

The person who ran the check, or somebody allowed to decide it, chooses a disposition from the row's menu:

  • Not a conflict: this match does not prevent the firm acting.
  • Possible conflict: something needs to be settled before the firm acts. A note is required.
  • Conflict: the match is a conflict. A note is required.

Choose the checkboxes and Mark selected to give several results the same disposition and note. Clear disposition returns a result to not dealt with. A decided check cannot be changed.

Record the decision

Every result needs a disposition first. Cleared accepts only results marked not a conflict. Conflict found needs at least one result marked conflict. Cleared with waiver needs at least one possible conflict or conflict, affected clients chosen, and live consent from each of them.

A refusal names what is missing. Go to result takes you to a result that still needs attention. Add consent opens the consent page when an affected client has none. Record the reason for the decision; it stays with the check.

A check with no results can only be cleared. Download its report from the facts rail. When a matter's check is decided, the report is also filed to the matter.
