Change what a person may do

Invite a person, give them roles, add or take away a single permission for them, and deactivate them when they leave.

Invite a new member of staff

  1. Open Settings, then Users, and choose Invite.
  2. Enter their name, email, job title and grade, and choose their roles.
  3. They receive an invitation email that lasts 72 hours. You can resend or revoke it from their record until they accept.
The people register with each person's role and standing.

Give or take away one permission

Sometimes one person needs one thing their role does not give, or must not do one thing it does. Use an override on their record rather than a new role:

  1. Open the person, then Overrides.
  2. Grant a permission at a scope, or deny one. A denial always wins over anything their roles grant.
  3. Give the reason. It is kept with the override and in the audit trail.

When a change needs approval

Where the firm has switched on approval for permission changes, a change waits under Settings, Permission requests until the managing partner approves it. A managing partner making the change themselves can apply it at once, recorded as their own approval.

When someone leaves

Deactivate the person from their record. The system first checks what they still hold, such as deadlines, tasks and matters they are responsible for, so the work can be moved to someone else before they go. People are never deleted: their name stays on everything they did.
