Log calls, meetings and letters on a matter

Record each call, meeting, letter and text on a matter with who took part, when and how long, and turn it into a time entry in one step.

Record one

  1. Open the matter, then Correspondence, Communications.
  2. Choose Record.
  3. Say what it was (a telephone or video call, a meeting, a letter, a text message) and which way it went: received by the firm, sent or made by it, or among the firm's own people.
  4. Enter the day, the time and, where it took time, how many minutes.
  5. Give it a subject and, if you like, a summary of what was said or agreed.
  6. Name who took part: the people from the firm, the parties on the matter, and anyone else by name.

You are named as taking part unless you choose others. A matter that is closed takes no new communications; reopen it first.

Emails are filed from the mailbox and read under Correspondence, Emails.

Find one

The register lists the newest first. Search by the subject, the summary or a name, and narrow it by what it was, which way it went, the days, and whether it has been recorded as time. Select a row to read it in full.

Turn it into time

From a communication's menu choose Record time. The minutes, the day, the activity (telephone, meeting or correspondence) and a narrative naming who it was with are filled in; change any of them, then Record time. The entry follows every rule time recording does, and the communication is then marked Timed with a link to the entry. A communication is recorded as time once only.

Change or delete one

Edit changes it. Delete takes it off the log with an optional reason; a time entry it was turned into stays. A deleted communication can be restored from Deleted records.
